I just completed a portrait of Christian Benitez. He was an Ecuadorian soccer player that passed away about a year ago of a sudden heart attack.

"Allah Will Provide"- a North African Folk Tale

Hello Blogger friends. It has indeed been a long time since I posted here. I have been busy on other projects that I cannot share as of yet. However I am trying to squeeze in some illustrations for an African folk tale story that I really liked. I am working on 4 different scenes.. maybe it will be 5. but here are two illustrations I wish to share with you. The first one on the top is finished, I will be adding type on all that negative space where the sunrise is and the bottom drawing is just a little spot going on the next page. This characters name is Bou Azza. He is the main character of the story as most my illustrations will consist of him in them. 

Tomato Frog Businessman

He's a tomato frog businessman that lives in the deep jungle of madagascar! He's totally rich living in his mud mansion.. however his life can be stressful, he always worries to much about his business. I want to do a storyboard of this guy to practice my character consistency.

Ready to end the summer and begin beautiful new fall season! I'll be creating characters for children's books and branding for a company I am opening! Get ready to see lots of new work!

Shaman character studies part 2

This will be my final character for the illustration. I wanted to make him a bit more crazy with the big pop out eyes. The old version I did was a bit to native american looking. 

Shaman Character concepts 1

This is my first concept for a character design of the south american shaman. I have an illustration concept with this being the subject so thought I would start by first doing some character studies seeing as its been some time since I drew the figure in my recent work. 

The Far Side of the World

This work was inspired by my recent adventure to the beautiful country of Ecuador! I learned about the iguanas that lived in the land for so many years, even as far back as the dinosaurs! In South America these animals are everywhere! In the parks, all of the trees, and even the streets. There are all different types : land, water,  and rock iguanas, which all range in color, size and shapes.   So, just like the people they are unique and yet still united.
This piece was done using a scratchboard technique that I learned back in college using clayboard and colored inks.

When I went to the beach of Montanita I didn't see as many iguanas as I did in the city of Guayaquil but I decided to do a scene inspired by my visit. The iguanas reflect the culture and spirit of the people. This is a very rough thumbnail so there may be a lot more alterations. 

Blue Footed Boobies

These birds are seen in Ecuador's beautiful galapagos islands. Blue footed boobies are best known for there blue feet and special dance!
