I am working on some graphic art for a new clothing company. The theme is ufc wrestling so its basically a bunch of muscles, fists, bloody skulls bones and sexy stuff... I'm having a lot of fun with it so far. Its definitely a direction I haven't been before.

Some vector stickers of animals for children, around 3 to 5 years old.

This is an idea sketch for one of the children's rooms for a youth ministry school. I will be decorating 5 rooms with murals. The subject for all 5 rooms is the space shuttle and outer space. Each room has a different theme within the subject and this particular sketch is for the 3 to 5 year old room in which the theme is "discovery". More coming soon.

These are rough thumbnails for an advertisement poster for a restaurant called Lovers Eggroll (http://loverseggrollplus.com/) They just started making a variety of flavors of bubble slushes. This poster will be hung in the front restaurant window for incoming customers.

I'm working on the typeface for the title that will be on the cover of the book as well as a wall decal in my space. I'm thinking of hand drawing because I think the texture within the writing will work well with my body of illustrations. I still have quite a ways to go. Lots and lots of writing and editing, four more pieces, and getting all these finished. These that I have thus far I've been working a lot on and are almost finished, my main concern now is the next four pieces and the descriptions for all 16.

I have not started the last six works for my thesis. I still want to make sure that my ideas are very clear so that I can finish them fast and on time. So over spring break I just caught up on getting the last ten up to 75% so that I can go through them all one last time and completely finish each one by one after I get the next six up to par.

I am working on this book for my thesis. All of my images will be put together in it, as well as some of my research and process. This will be displayed for my thesis presentation AND I would like to put up for sale on amazon. As I am still working on the artwork for the personality types however, I figured out this is going to take so much more time than I expected. Soooo.. I started doing some studies for my cover art as well some patterns that will go in as backgrounds and other blank areas of the book.. I'll post more later.

The goal is to get all ten of these up to 70% by the end of this week. The next six I should breeze right through and finish during spring break. There will be a poster as well for the overall theme, the cover of my book(which will go up for sale on amazon; details later), and for promotional use. Now, if only I knew a catchy title that should help me set the tone? I have tons of possibilities but not sure if they are catchy enough to get some attention. My midyear crit will be thursday so hopefully I can get some good feedback the from my fellow classmates.

I started over on both of these works because i was just not satisfied with the ones that I previously did. I think so far they are looking a lot better and it gives me more confidence to keep going. I also added a sneak peak of all of them hung. I wanted to see what they would all look like together, and so far.. I think they look great!
I'm getting at that point however, where I'm getting there, close to finish. I am a little more than halfway complete with getting them all up to 70%. I am getting exxhaausted, and finding ways to get motivation is getting harder, especially with this crappy cleveland weather. hopefully something good will pull through and come my way soon to get me to wake up.

Here is a sneak peak of my senior thesis. I'm hoping to be finished with all 16 final works within the next eight weeks.. so yeah, it will definitely be a crazy next eight weeks of insanity. I go crazy when i work nonstop like this but i freak-in love it!

This is "The Motivator" or.. "The Inspirer", I haven't decided which title i would like to go with. I don't know about this one yet though. I'm going to just wait until I get almost finished to decide if I want to start over.

My senior thesis will consist of 16 illustrations of personality types. I will be using the myers briggs typology, some of Carl Jung's approaches and ideas, as well as my own interpretations of these types and some poetry that will hopefully help tie it all together, all incorporated to create a single moment of the sensations that are happening through patterns of thought within individuals.

I have had this huge influence on Impressionist art since the very first attempt at painting. Even though I do not remember what my first painting was, it was such a long time ago.. but I remember the prints of the impressionist paintings. The ones hanging all around the house because of my mother's love for Monet's work. I remember when I first started painting that was the way that I painted because I thought that was the "right" way of doing it. This attempt to paint in this manner opened my mind up towards the idea that the artist represents emotion within every brush stroke of color that spreads across the surface. It was when I was growing up that I painted from how I felt at that moment about what I was painting. This is what I am passionate about because of the passion within the subject.
As an illustrator I wish to be able to connect with people. I want to be able to understand all types of interpretations other than my own and communicate effectively my thoughts, stories of my thoughts, and ideas. This is what I wish to accomplish which is one of the reasons why I chose the subject for my senior thesis as well as going on to study art therapy some time maybe after I graduate, as well being an illustrator.

This work is for a competition at my school for a local tire dealer company that has a corporate art collection and wants the students at CIA to have a chance for their art to be part of. I decided to make a work of just the harmony and unification of different hand gestures. I wanted the hands to all look the same to make the work look repetitive. I painted with open acrylic on brass and scratched through using a scribe the paint to let the bras outline around the hands shine through, It turned out really cool but when i went to spray it with a clear acrylic coating to try and finish it the brass didn't shine as much as I had liked. Bt other than that I think it turned out pretty well.. kind of inspired a little by art nouveau which i have been looking at a lot lately.

I am currently in the process of working on my senior thesis for my bfa in illustration. The process of formulating my concept has been long and quite difficult. I'm trying to combine my future career paths that I would like to pursue as an art therapist as well as an illustrator and that I can grow and experience from within this project. Researching and understanding the way that the human mind works has always been of great interest to me. The fact that describing who a person is may be so complex that linguistics and language within words cannot even explain the surface of meaning to a great understanding. As an illustrator I feel it is one of my jobs to visual communicate ideas and circumstances within instances that cannot necessarily be described in words. Within this perspective is how i view my work as a painter as well except to a much deeper context because I can be more personal with it. This is more of a therapeutic approach of illustrating what is felt and the internal connections between the viewer and what is in front of them.
Illustration is looked down upon from so many other areas of art because it is misperceived as a shallow profession in which you are being told what to draw or paint. I believe this is also another way of "labeling" someone's perceptive views as an artist.
I come from a very diverse family and labeling is something that has always seemed to come straight at me. being an "American" is not usually someone's response when they are asked what ethnicity they are. people have such a great need to put a label in front of something so that it's just simply easier for there mind to classify whatever it is they are unconsciously directing that label to a stereotype or just simply trying to recognize something with it's "surface meaning". I believe people are getting more and more apt to this way of thinking which will eventually be something that destroys a persons meaning to live by simply perceiving and not interpreting, and the farther away from true reality we become.

I loved the rose pattern background I designed so much, I wanted to incorporate it. I also incorporated it into my website. But I am planning to change it around a bit just haven't come around to that yet. Enjoy!

Final Album Cover Art Outline

After lots plenty of concept sketches and creative collaborative thinking, we have finally came up with a final outline for Garbs Infinite Album Cover, Eclectic, coming out august 31st. phew! I am just so relieved I finally get to have fun coloring this! In case your not quite sure what's going on here. This will be an underwater scene of an octopus. This octopus doesn't have tentacles but speakers instead, with wires coming out of his legs and into the artists head which is placed on a plate right below it.

This is probably the most unusual piece of art I've done so far. But I absolutely love the idea and can't wait to complete it now!

This is the most extraordinary contemporary art project that has come to my attention. Frank Warren and the post secret project. The new book out, called Post Secret, confessions on life, death and god. I took a look at today when i was at borders just looking around. I thought this little book was so great because it shows revealing and truthful secrets about everyday people and life. It also gave me hope in learning that people are really connected to each other in the sense that we are all human. and after doing some research of this online discovering it has helped people overcome suicide made me love even more.

This is an in progress of another deviant art contest. I figure I have a chance is better than no chance at all. I need the money to help finish paying the rest of my tuition for next school year. So I am going to never give up and keep trying! I really hope I can go back because next year will be my last and I can finally graduate and have a bachelor degree in illustration!

For this design and the others that will be coming soon, What inspired me the most was, the genre of music I love, pop music. No matter how many other types of music I enjoy and grow to like, there's always that certain love for pop music. I think it was because growing up, with pop music being so huge, I was such a huge nsync and boy band fan. The style of pop music and the culture I was and still am being influenced by that I know it still carries in me and my art as well as lifestyle. I have a such a huge interest in that young preteen girl audience, that I make my work embellish that state of mind and geared toward. This design I can imagine being younger putting in my room as another hip "statement" that gives my life flair ad pizzazzzzz..It's just unique enough to make me stand out from my friends but still stay cool. The design, as well as the color scheme signify a unity of both intricate, pretty, romantic feeling that most pop music brings.

I have been writing a lot lately, particularly for more scholarship and grant money because my tuition is so short for next school term and I am freaking out once again with another stressful crazy summer. I would like to post an essay of mine written for one of the awards. I know Im not the greatest writer but sometimes it works better than a painting or a drawing to express my feelings. Both writing and art I've used for therapeutic purposes to help in rough times. I haven't been to many places my whole life, mostly because I've never had the money and opportunity to. But after I receive this bachelor degree next year I really am EXPECTING to finally be free. well... i will have a few loans to pay off but I see that as more of a boost of encouragement to get a job and make money. right now is just the worst time for me because I am working so much and it feels like it hasn't paid off.

The past three years have been the greatest and hardest experiences I’ve had in my life thus far being able to learn what I love to do. I’ve been blessed with having the opportunity to go to an institution of higher education that will one day hopefully give me a successful career as a professional illustrator. I am proud of myself for what I have accomplished thus far and believe that I deserve a grant from Albert K. Murray fine art program because I am a strong individual with high ambitions and believe in never giving up. I really want to continue school at CIA and graduate next year.

I have had this specific goal for my future as long as I can remember. I still remember growing up and how spoiled my mother made me and my sister, but after my parents divorced and I felt like I became on my own a little more, I discovered how hard the world really is and that life is about so much more than the material things you have, but also about what you are willing to give. After school here at CIA I will be able to give my knowledge, and creativity to others, that will give the world a smaller step closer to what it needs. I would like to use my education and success to one day helps those who have helped me. My portfolio shows how dedicated I have been to perfecting my talent and the strong ambitions I have to succeed. Also how much I would like to continue my education to receive my bachelor’s degree in Illustration.

I know that nothing comes easily in life and the past three years have certainly gave me an idea of this. I have chosen the path I wish to take that will guide me through the rest of my life and I will devote all of my energy, time, and focus to this because to me, it’s something worth living for.
